Came out about my sexuality earlier this year, which meant my mate – who hadn’t had much exposure to the gay scene – and I could venture to relevant pub / club venues in big cities to meet other like-minded people. Problem is, he got carried away and kept bringing men from these venues back to our hotel room where he would sleep with them (with me in the other bed, how gross).

We went out on Saturday to a big city and, again, he met someone. I had previously stated that I forbid him to bring people back to our room which he’d accepted, but this time he was desperate – trying to bribe me with money if he could come back and so forth. I told his potential one night stand that he wasn’t allowed to come back which he accepted. This didn’t go down well with my mate for the rest of the night who harbored it against me.

Last night we were on the phone and he tells me how he and this person (or as he refers to him, “the one”) are excited to meet up again, how I’m not invited (we had planned to head out next week but he’s completely rubbished our plans for this) and – most hurtfully – his snide little digs that I’m “jealous” of their potential relationship seeing as I “only pull ugly men”.

He acted smug, rude, arrogant and completely cocksure. I felt livid that after all the years of friendship he would treat me with such little regard yet if I speak up about it I’m clearly “just jealous”. I hastily made my excuses and ended the call but I’m now wondering if I should bother giving him the time of day again, seeing as he quite clearly doesn’t care about me if he’s sustaining interest from someone.

What should I do?
